What is net worth?
Net worth is the difference between everything you own (assets) and everything you owe (liabilities). It is one of the clearest snapshots of financial health because it rolls cash, investments, property, and debt into a single number you can track over time.
How the math works
Net Worth = Total Assets − Total Liabilities Total Assets = everything you own, added up Total Liabilities = everything you owe, added up
Enter each amount in USD. Blank or negative entries count as zero. Once you have both assets and liabilities, the chart shows how each side adds up to your net worth.
What to include
- Assets: cash, savings, brokerage and retirement accounts, crypto, real estate at market value, vehicles, and other valuables you could sell.
- Liabilities: mortgages, auto and student loans, credit card balances, and any other outstanding debt.
Common mistakes
- Forgetting retirement or HSA balances.
- Using original purchase price instead of current value for a home or car.
- Listing a mortgage as an asset instead of splitting home value and loan.
- Checking once a year instead of watching the trend monthly.
This page is a one-time snapshot. Nethaven portfolio tracking connects banks, brokerages, and crypto so net worth stays current as balances change—without rebuilding spreadsheets every month.
