Import Lunch Money to Nethaven

Import Lunch Money transactions, categories, and optional budget month history into Nethaven. See what transfers, what does not, and how to review the preview.

Find the importer in Settings > Import data or from the dashboard prompt when it appears. Export Lunch Money transactions as CSV. Do not rely on a separate budget export for historical budgets, only YNAB carries budget history into Nethaven today. Upload the original Transaction CSV, optional budget CSV without editing it in a spreadsheet first.
Importing Lunch Money to Nethaven creates transaction history from the rows in the export, including accounts, categories, merchants, notes, or tags when those fields are present. Only YNAB carries budget history into Nethaven today. For Lunch Money, use the import to move transaction history and rebuild current budget planning in Nethaven after the import. Before confirming, check the transaction and account counts, the per-account reconstructed balances, and the budget reconciliation line. Flat CSV tools carry no opening balances, so imported account balances are the sum of imported activity until you correct them. Transfers are inferred rather than marked, so some can import as two ordinary transactions.
Use Replace my starter data only when the import should replace onboarding data. It deletes starter accounts, transactions, categories, budgets, goals, and sample setup items before applying the import. Loan payoff details never transfer because the source exports do not contain the needed payoff fields, and Nethaven will not invent them.

Follow these steps in the current product UI. Use the platform switcher to show instructions for another supported platform.

1

Where do I find the importer?

Open **Settings > Import data** from the dashboard sidebar. If a dashboard import prompt appears, it opens the same import flow.

2

How do I get the Lunch Money export file?

Export Lunch Money transactions as CSV. Do not rely on a separate budget export for historical budgets, only YNAB carries budget history into Nethaven today. Upload the original Transaction CSV, optional budget CSV when possible, not a bank CSV, screenshot, report export, or spreadsheet-edited copy.

3

What should I check before confirming?

Review the counts, per-account reconstructed balances, budget reconciliation line, and warnings before committing. Only YNAB carries budget history into Nethaven today. This import creates spending history from transactions, not historical budget months. Flat CSV exports do not include opening balances. Nethaven starts each imported account from the sum of imported activity, so some balances will need correction after import. Flat CSV exports do not mark transfers as transfer links. Nethaven infers likely transfers from same-day opposite-sign amounts, so some transfers can import as two ordinary transactions.

4

What does Replace my starter data do?

It deletes onboarding starter data before applying the import. Leave it off if you want to keep accounts, categories, transactions, budgets, goals, or other setup items you already created manually.

5

What should I do if balances look wrong?

Correct the account balance after import, then inspect transfers and duplicate-looking rows. Flat CSV balances often differ because the file contains activity but no opening balance, and loan payoff details never transfer because the exports do not contain them.
